Microsoft introduced the latest addition to its Surface family today: the Surface Laptop, a premium notebook with a 13.5-inch display, and Intel's latest 7th-generation (Kaby Lake) processors. The device is available to pre-order in the United States, priced from $999; and now, Microsoft has also listed it on its UK store.
As in the US, the same four configurations will be available:
Processor | RAM | Storage (SSD) | Price | Color options |
Intel Core i5 | 4GB | 128GB | £979 |
Platinum |
Intel Core i5 | 8GB | 256GB | £1,249 | Platinum |
Intel Core i7 | 8GB | 256GB | £1,549 | Platinum |
Intel Core i7 | 16GB | 512GB | £2,149 | Platinum |
However, as you can see from the table above, Microsoft hasn't listed the Surface Laptop in any color other than Platinum in the UK, with no sign of the Burgundy, Cobalt Blue, and Graphite Gold options offered in the US.
The Surface Laptop is the first PC to run Windows 10 S, a new edition of the OS that's restricted to running Windows Store apps. Like their US counterparts, UK buyers will be offered a free upgrade to Windows 10 Pro until the end of the year, along with a free one-year Office 365 Personal subscription until October 15.
