Microsoft kicks in the May 2022 firmware update roundup with a new series of patches and improvements for the Surface Pro 7. The latest update contains several quality-of-life enhancements and bugfixes that improve the camera and Surface Pen experience.
Important: Unlike Windows updates, you cannot uninstall Surface firmware updates. Therefore, we recommend checking a list of known issues and additional notes before installing a new version.
Note: This update does not apply to the Surface Pro 7+
What is new in May 2022 firmware update for the Surface Pro 7?
- The update improves the front and rear camera stability and resolves system bugcheck (blue screen of death).
- The update improves inking with the Surface Slim Pen 2.
- The update improves scenarios when working with the Surface Dock 2.

Microsoft says the latest firmware for the Surface Pro 7 has no known issues, and it does not require additional steps for installation. You can get the update from Windows Update on devices with Windows 10 20H1 and newer or from the official website (manual installation).
