One lucky software firm will receive an all expenses paid week in Redmond, and get the chance to work with the Tablet PC development team, as part of a new Microsoft competition launched today. This prize is part of a wider nationwide drive to focus UK software developers and Independent Solution Vendors (ISVs) on the Windows XP Tablet PC platform. Participants in the competition - to develop a new application for Windows XP Tablet PC edition - will receive marketing and comprehensive development support to bring their software to market. Companies can register for the competition online: www.microsoft.com/uk/tabletpc/challenge.
ISVs and developers signing up to the competition will be able to take advantage of a host of Microsoft resources. These include an empowerment programme to ensure all developers have full access to MSDN licenses, engineering and consultation support and developer tools that include the latest Solution Development Kit and forthcoming Tablet PC Operating System beta code.
Mike Welch, VP of Canalys said: "It is important that ISVs become familiar with, and take advantage of, the additional capabilities the Tablet PC OS offers. There is a great need for more pen-based applications that deliver business benefits, both to specific targeted occupations and to the broader mobile professional workforce."
