Following the rather acute divergence in opinion regarding the ideal length of characters for a tweet, one extension offers you the ability to shrink longer tweets back down to 140 characters.

After research showed that English language users had to cut down their text more often compared to languages such as Korean and Japanese, Twitter will trial doubling the limit with a subset of users.
New screenshots which surfaced online appear to show an official tweetstorm feature running on the Android Twitter app. The feature is hidden and requires a developmental version of the app to use.
