Google has ended the controversial experiment of putting 4K videos on YouTube behind a paywall. The company has confirmed that all users should now be able to watch high-res videos without Premium.

Some users have spotted a weird change in their YouTube apps: Google now allows high-res streaming only for those subscribed to YouTube Premium, leaving only 1440p and lower available for free.
YouTube is letting some Android users stream up to 4K 60fps videos on mobile devices with 1080p displays or higher. Some 720p devices seem to be restricted to 1080p. The feature is rolling out now.
