Vodafone engineers have done some tests in the upper 6 GHz spectrum band to show that it could help mobile networks avoid a capacity crunch in just five or so years as more devices connect.
Ofcom has outlined how the upper 6 GHz spectrum band could be used by both Wi-Fi and mobile traffic. It calls the approach 'hybrid sharing' and outlined several ways that it could be implemented.
