Amazon announced in an internal memo it will lay off "several hundred" employees in its Alexa voice assistance division so it can "maximizing our resources and efforts focused on generative AI."

Amazon is making another round of layoffs, which will include over 180 employees in its games division along with an unspecified number of team members in its music streaming division.
The 9,000 Amazon workers to be laid off will be in addition to the 18,000 employees that were cut back in January 2023. AWS, PXT, Advertising, and Twitch workers will be affected.
