Back in 2017, Apple faced controversy over the power management features of older iPhones, which led to a lawsuit that got settled in 2020. Now, payments are due to be hitting accounts soon.
Several reputable hardware reviewers and YouTubers are reporting that the batteries inside their older Samsung phones are swelling up while devices from other OEMs don't, despite similar conditions.
Apple will pay $113 million for its second settlement of an investigation into its iPhone battery throttling practices. It also vowed to make its battery management practices more transparent.
Eligible users of the iPhone throttling issue lawsuit can apply for claims for the $25 pay-out promised by Apple, on the district court's website. The claims must be submitted before October 6.
