EA and DICE seem to be trying to avoid another Battlefield 2042 situation entirely. A new report says that the series' biggest testing phase is currently ongoing for the next entry.

Need for Speed developer Criterion Games is being moved to focus on the future of the Battlefield franchise under Vince Zampella. Racing will be still pursued by a "core group" within the studio.
After weeks of teasing, DICE today announced the next entry of Battlefield will be unveiled on June 9. The game may be called just Battlefield and is supposed to feature much grander rounds.
Four studios are currently working on the next-generation Battlefield game, which may skip out on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. A mobile Battlefield experience is also in development.
Electronic Arts has pushed back the next Need for Speed project of Criterion Games to 2022. The studio is now being moved to help support DICE with the upcoming Battlefield entry.
