It appears that the Chromebook Pixel line is not dead after all. Google's Senior VP of Hardware has tweeted that it would still live on but provided no official word on a new product release.

Google has released Android app support to the stable channel for the Chrome OS running on the Chromebook Pixel 2; other Chromebooks should receive the same in the near future.
