Microsoft has announced its intention to shut down CodePlex on December 15, 2017. Starting today, new projects are no longer accepted. GitHub is of course welcoming the new influx of contributors.

Microsoft has released some sample code for its Kinect for Windows SDK under an open source license via CodePlex. It has also expanded the reach of the device for educational purposes.
