As part of its layoffs, Meta let engineers go who were working on a fact-checking feature for Facebook. The feature has now been scrapped but would have added fact-checking comments above articles.

Twitter has expanded Birdwatch to everyone in the United States. The feature allows users to essentially fact-check individual tweets. Users who want to contribute must earn the right.
YouTube is bringing its fact-checking tool to the U.S. in order to debunk misinformation by providing contextual information from authoritative sources when users search for news topics.
"The Hunt for False News" will be describing some situations where recent news that went viral on Facebook was found to be fake, and other instances in which pieces of such misinformation were missed.
