Capcom president and COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto stated recently, "Personally, I feel that game prices are too low." He feels prices should be higher due to increases in development costs and higher wages.

Microsoft is also joining other publishers in bumping up its first-party video game prices soon. The change will be in effect starting in 2023 and will affect major new releases like Starfield.
Microsoft will sell its first party Xbox One games such as Forza Motorsport 5 and Quantum Break for the retail price of $59.99, although the prices for third party Xbox One games are unknown.
Analyst Michael Pachter of Wedbush Securities believes that retail disc games for Sony's PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's next-gen Xbox console will cost $70, a rise of $10 compared to current prices.
