As announced previously, Google planned to shut down Google Hangouts; today is the official date for its closure. Users will automatically be redirected to Google Chat instead of Google Hangouts.

Google has announced its plans to migrate all chat records from Google Hangouts to Google Chat. It is disabling Google Hangouts for all Google Workspace and G Suite users from November 1, 2022.
Google is rolling out a new design to the Hangouts Chat app for Android and iOS, making it simpler to search for Rooms or People with a separate tab for each group. Bots are also placed under People.
