Alder Lake-S, Intel's next-gen desktop platform will be on a new Socket LGA 1700, according to a leak. Team Blue is conducting voltage tests on the new socket, but it may be a while before we see it.
While the bandwidth provided by PCIe 3.0 is found to be sufficient for most GPUs with adequate VRAM, the 4GB Radeon RX 5500 XT is found to be struggling possibly due to its PCIe x8 limitation.
The new version will enable increased performance in areas such as machine learning, networking and gaming. The first products to take advantage of the new standard are expected in 2021.
