On August 3, 1977, Tandy announced its TRS-80 Model 1 PC via its Radio Shack stores, which helped to begin the personal computer technology revolution. Tandy later lost ground to other PC makers.

The Apple II wasn't the first personal computer but it did help to begin the PC boom when it launched on June 10, 1977. Today, the Apple Vision Pro is trying to begin the VR/AR boom.
The IBM PC-XT had a lot more expansion slots compared to the first IBM PC that launched in 1981, but it was not as big of a leap in other hardware specs. It also had a rival PC in the Compaq Portable.
