Two years ago, Microsoft's phone hardware revenue stood at $2.284 billion. By the end of last quarter, it had fallen to around $200 million, down from $300 million during the previous quarter.

After a report claimed that HTC has been making preparations to sell off its troubled mobile division, a spokesperson for the Taiwanese manufacturer has said that it "strongly denies this rumor".
Microsoft is restructuring its phone hardware business, with the loss of 7,800 jobs. The company will write down a $7.6bn 'impairment charge', and says it will offer a more 'focused phone portfolio'.
