After indefinitely delaying the forced upgrade to version 8 of Skype following community backlash, Microsoft has now shared new details as to when users will start being forced to move over.
The Skype team appears to be committed to making version 8 of the service a suitable replacement for the previous releases, bringing back some of the features most requested by long-time users.
With version 8.29, Microsoft is trying to bring back some familiar capabilities to Skype, while also removing some controversial features like Highlights, that weren't too popular among users.
Microsoft had originally announced that it's killing off Skype v7, or Skype classic, on September 1. The company is backtracking though, allowing users to use the older version indefinitely.
