The zombie-based survival game, which launched its first early access version in December 2013, has seen a surge of new online players on Steam this weekend, with over 91,000 players online at once.
In a statement, a Valve spokesperson said that developers "can use these AI technologies in their work" when submitting games for Steam, but they cannot "infringe on existing copyrights."
