As part of an update to its Surface Tools for IT, Microsoft has now included Wake-on-LAN support for a selection of its Surfaces when used in conjunction with a Surface Ethernet adapter or dock.

While Microsoft has said the Surface Ethernet adapter still won't work with Windows RT 8.1, there is a workaround that will enable the adapter to work on the Surface and Surface 2 tablets.
