Verizon wants to reintroduce its rule which allows it to prevent a user from changing carriers for a stipulated time period, stated as 60 days in the official request made to the FCC.

Currently, if you buy a new smartphone from Verizon in the United States, it comes unlocked. That's all about to change, as the carrier will begin locking phones it sells this spring.
The unlocked variant of the dual-SIM Galaxy S8+ makes its way to Europe. The smartphone is currently available in select markets and will be sold through Samsung's online store exclusively.
The CRTC announced that starting on December 1, Canadian carriers will no longer be able to charge customers to unlock their mobile devices and will have to sell them unlocked models going forward.
