Google will be shutting down the VPN by Google One service sometime later in 2024. It was first launched for subscribers in October 2020, but the company now says "people simply weren't using it".
Google One VPN services came to Windows around a year and a half ago. However, the service has been found messing with the DNS settings on Windows 11 and 10 users' PCs without much warning.
Google One subscribers can now get VPN access on all plans and dark web monitoring reports to see if their information is being illicitly sold on shady forums. The Basic plan starts at $1.99.
Those subscribed to Google One can now use Google's VPN service on macOS and Windows. The company has released native clients to provide users access to the virtual private network on desktops.
Google is bundling a new capability as part of its Google One subscription service - a VPN service. The feature will roll out in the coming weeks, but you'll need a plan with 2TB of storage or more.
