Microsoft's business communication service, Teams, is getting some new additions in the coming days. The company has announced some new features in time for the holiday season, starting with breakout rooms.
Breakout rooms were announced for Teams back in September, and they allow meeting organizers to split meetings into different groups, be it for brainstorming sessions, or, in the spirit of the holiday season, play some games. Each breakout room can only communicate within itself, while the organizer can move between each room or talk to everyone at the same time. Breakout rooms will be rolling out this week.
In more holiday-themed news, Microsoft has added new Together Mode scenes, including a "winter wonderland" scene where you can see other people in an unrealistically large pile of snow. There are other new scenes being added, though, like a coffee shop, classroom, and even one based on the United Nations Space Command in Halo games.
Finally, there are new custom virtual backgrounds, also themed around the holiday season, though these aren't included in Teams itself. You can download the images from this link and then upload your favorites to Teams to use as a background.
These features are now rolling out, aside from the custom backgrounds mentioned above, which you can download and use right away.
