Android Wear 2.0 only launched on February 8 and the developers of the Telegram messenger app were ready and waiting with their app for the platform. The new app is fairly powerful and allows users to browse and reply to chats with voice, text, emoji, or stickers. The ability to create groups is even present.
According to Telegram’s announcement, the Wear app already ships with theme support, a feature that we announced yesterday would be coming to the Android version of Telegram.
Telegram’s announcement reads:
“Google has just unveiled Android Wear 2.0, the latest in smartwatch platforms. It supports standalone apps, so today we’re releasing Telegram for Android Wear 2.0. It’s everything you’d want from a perfect app – compact, beautiful, and super-fast.”
Telegram for Android Wear 2.0 is now available for download from the Google Play Store on watches running Android Wear 2.0. Right now, though, only a handful of devices support Google’s new operating system.
In wider Telegram news, the underlying code in recent beta releases shows that audio calls and payments are in the preliminary stages of being usable in the app.
