We haven't done one of these for a while and I thought I'd add this one as it touches on a personal debate I always seem to have with my friends. I myself am happy with Outlook Express bundled with Windows XP while some of my friends find Outlook 2000/XP the biz, when I ask them "Why do you use it then?" they reply that its part of Office so it must be good, mmkay...
From Lockergnome: Earlier today, I ran Outlook 2000 for the first time on Zero. Since I had applied SP1 beforehand, it asked for my Office 2000 CD - which I did not have. I started to get worried. I figured I'd have to do a complete reinstallation. Nothing doing. When I got home, I opened Outlook and went to the Help menu. There, I selected the "Detect and Repair" option. Surprisingly enough, that's exactly what it did. Now, I don't plan on using Outlook on my laptop very often. I copied the PST here so that I could access stored messages when I'm away from home. I plan on using OE for most of my "mobile" e-mail tasks. It works just fine, and I don't really have to worry about synchronizing anything when I get home. Yeah, both clients support IMAP - but OE does what I need it to do without getting in the way. I debated installing Office XP, but decided against it at the last minute. I'm going to wait for SP2. According to many, Microsoft's newest productivity suite is not worth the trouble if Office 2000 is working fine. That's my boat.
