It was back in August when Ubisoft announced the 1.8 Resistance update for its action RPG title, The Division, set to arrive as the game's largest ever free content drop. Just over three months later, the update is now finally available across all platforms.
The update brings along a number of new additions to the game, the biggest of which is a map expansion. Players will now have access to the West Side Pier, a two-zone region with its own safe house.
The two new game modes that arrive with the Resistance update is also situated in this new region, them being Skirmish and Resistance. The former is essentially a team deathmatch mode with two teams of four pitted against each other. The latter is a wave-based survival mode where players must hold out against continuous AI-controlled enemy assaults.
Other changes include a Rogue system overhaul, a gear optimization station for improving the quality of items, changes to the Underground missions, and more. The full changelog can be found on the game's official website here.
Moreover, while the update is a welcome treat for existing players, Ubisoft is also giving everyone else an opportunity to try The Division, as well as its new content, with a free weekend. The free promotion will run from December 7 to December 10, and will be available on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
