Microsoft started rolling out the Windows 10 Anniversary Update less than a week ago, and it's no secret that the company is already preparing for the next major update to its OS, namely Redstone 2. In fact, Microsoft clearly stated that it will release Windows 10 Redstone 2 Insider Preview builds in August - even before the Anniversary Update started rolling out.
Now, a new report has emerged from the Core Insider Program account on Twitter, which claims that the first Redstone Insider build is coming soon - possibly this week.
According to the source, Microsoft will rolling out build 14901 to Insiders, which will be the first Redstone 2 build for the program. Rumors have also claimed that Redstone 2 will focus more on Windows 10 Mobile than its predecessors, and it will arrive in April, 2017. This time frame possibly coincides with Microsoft's numerous hardware releases, including the highly-anticipated "Surface Phone".
With that being said, it is important to note that the aforementioned Redstone 2 preview build might not contain ground-breaking features yet, seeing that the company rolled out the Anniversary Update just a few days ago. In fact, the Windows 10 Mobile Anniversary Update is rumored to start rolling out today, so even if the Redstone 2 build is released for Windows phones, it might not contain any new features at all.
It is also important to note that Microsoft obviously hasn't confirmed this rumor as of yet, and given the fact that this is a preview build - and is subject to last-minute changes - we might not see the build roll out this week at all.
