During Nintendo's keynote today at GDC '09, President Satoru Iwata announced a new Zelda game for the DS, titled 'The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks'.
Very little is known about the game so far, although Iwata did announce Spirit Tracks will be released later this year and revealed the first trailer.
The game plays very similar as the previous DS Zelda title, Phantom Hourglass which was released in October 2007. Spirit Tracks builds off the previous boat mechanic replacing it with a train this time around. During the trailer Link can be seen conducting a train and fighting a giant scorpion with a mounted canon.
As with Phantom Hourglass, the top screen will be used for dungeon puzzles while the bottom is used for gameplay.
A new interesting mechanic was revealed where Link can also be seen controlling enemies, fending them off against one another and sneaking around behind to hit them. According to GameZine, he also has the ability to create enemies too.
