Last month, Apple introduced its new iPhone SE, a 4-inch handset sitting alongside its larger iPhone 6s and 6s Plus siblings. Apple said that its 'SE' stands for 'Special Edition' - but will the new 'LG G5 SE' be something special?
The answer to that question is not yet clear, since LG still hasn't officially announced the G5 SE. But we do know that it won't be a smaller version of the flagship G5, which went on sale this month, following its unveiling in February. British retailer MobileFun.co.uk published photos and video on its blog of the new Quick Cover for the G5, noting that its packaging states that it also supports the G5 SE.
The 'touch-enabled' Quick Cover features cutouts for the display, ear-speaker, and front and rear cameras on the G5. If the cover is also intended to support the G5 SE, the dimensions and design of that device will surely need to be similar - if not identical - to the standard G5.
If it's not a smaller version of the G5, the SE will have to differ in some other way to the regular model. It could have superior (or even inferior) specs, or perhaps it may even do away with the modular features of the standard G5 - but for now, this is pure speculation.
Given that accessories supporting the SE are already making their way to retailers, though, it may not be too much longer before we find out more about it.
