Obsidian Entertainment is almost ready to push out its latest story expansion for The Outer Worlds. The studio today unveiled the trailer for Murder on Eridanos, the second piece of post-launch content heading to the game following last year's Peril on Gorgon. You can watch the reveal trailer above.
The new content's story is set in the skies of the gas giant Eridanos where players will play a part in a classic murder mystery. Here's how the developer detailed the situation that the crew of The Unreliable is jumping into:
Everyone is a suspect in this peculiar whodunit after Rizzo’s hired spokesperson, the famous Halcyon Helen, winds up dead ahead of the release of the brand-new Spectrum Brown Vodka. Alongside your companions, travel across the floating islands of Eridanos and piece together clues using the Discrepancy Amplifier, a new gadget that highlights otherwise unseen hints. There’s more to this mystery than meets the eye, and it’s up to you (and your crew, if you choose) to solve the case.
Multiple floating islands of Eridanos, three new science weapons, as well as other weapon and armor variants, new perks, flaws, and a level cap raise by three are included in the expansion as well. Meanwhile, the new Discrepancy Amplifier gadget is said to "highlight temporal inconsistencies not otherwise seen with the naked eye."
The Outer Worlds: Murder on Eridanos will be available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5 on March 17 for $14.99. Owners of the $24.99 expansion pass will also gain access to it as part of the package alongside the previous expansion Peril on Gorgon.
This will be the final piece of new content heading to the well-received RPG and no sequel plans have been revealed yet by the developer. Obsidian is currently working on its miniaturized survival game Grounded and its high-profile RPG Avowed as its next projects, with both being exclusive to Xbox consoles and PC.
