Earlier this week, we discovered that customers can now pre-order the Surface Laptop with a Core i7 in Burgundy, Cobalt Blue, and Graphite Gold. The new variants are coming at the end of October, but as it turns out, Microsoft isn't done adding new configurations for the Windows 10 S device.
The company will be releasing a new variant with an Intel Core i7 processor, 16GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD on October 3, and you can pre-order it right now. Unfortunately, it won't be offered in fancy colors, and it will only come in Platinum. The good news though, is that it's coming to multiple regions, priced at $2,699 in the United States and £2,699 in the UK.
All of the prices for the Surface Laptop are right in line with the prices of the Surface Pro; indeed, you can get a Pro with a Core i7, 16GB RAM, and a 1TB SSD for $2,699 as well, but there are some key differences, aside from the obvious form factor. With the Surface Pro, the keyboard is sold separately ($129.99 or $159.99, depending on which one you choose), but it ships with Windows 10 Pro, rather than Windows 10 S, which comes with the Surface Laptop. Of course, until the end of the year, you can get a free upgrade to Windows 10 Pro, a $49 value.
If you want to pre-order the new configuration of the Surface Laptop, you can do so here in the US, or here in the UK.
