After months of being sold out, the unlocked Lumia 640 XL suddenly showed that it was in-stock again in the US Microsoft Store again last night for a price of $149. The AT&T-locked model also showed up, which has been out of stock for weeks.
But less than 24 hours later, the unlocked model is once again showing as out of stock, and so is the black AT&T variant. If you want a Lumia 640 XL, your only option is white and locked to AT&T. Of course, it has a removable back, so the color really shouldn't be an issue.
In March, the device will turn two-years-old, so don't expect to see it in stock again at the Microsoft Store. Of course, seeing it last night was surprising enough.
The Lumia 640 XL has a quad-core Snapdragon 400 chipset, 1GB RAM, 8GB storage, a 13MP rear camera with a 1/3-inch sensor and f/2 aperture, and a 5MP front camera. The AT&T model is only $99, and if you know someone who has an account, it should be easy enough to get it unlocked.
The device will ship with Windows Phone 8.1 Update 2, but it's eligible for a Windows 10 Mobile upgrade. You can find the AT&T model in the Microsoft Store right here, and if the unlocked model shows up again, we'll be sure to let you know.
