In October, the founders of the People Can Fly development studio, which made the original Painkiller and Bulletstorm, announced they had formed a new team called The Astronauts. This week, the studio announced their first game which is due out later this year,
Unlike the violent first person shooters the team has made in the past, this new title sounds like it will be a bit slower paced. It's called The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, and it's described as a supernatural-themed detective game that aims to create an immersive story experience.
The game's full description states:
As a detective with the supernatural ability to visualize scenes of lethal crimes, you investigate the kidnapping of a young boy, hoping to save him before it’s too late. The investigation leads you to a beautiful mountain area, where you come across a severely mutilated body of one of the kidnappers. Using both your paranormal skill and modern detective tools you discover the mystery behind the trail of corpses in the valley, the roots of an ancient force ruling the area, and the fate of the kidnapped boy.
The game will use Unreal Engine 3 as its basis and will be a PC exclusive, with a launch date planned for later in 2013.
