When Microsoft announced that the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update was going to arrive on October 17, that applied to PCs, although the firm told us that Windows 10 Mobile would get its upgrade within the same timeframe. But now that it's been a week, Brandon LeBlanc has offered some new information, which is that it's coming this week.
According to his tweet, the update actually started rolling out in Finland on October 17, but open market devices will get it this week. This means that if you bought your Windows phone from a carrier like AT&T, you might have to wait a bit longer.
The Windows 10 Mobile Fall Creators Update also doesn't contain much in the way of new features. You'll find some new emojis and new Continuum stuff, but this is not from the Redstone 3 branch like the PC update is. This is feature2, which is an offshoot of Redstone 2. That's why the build number will be 15254.1, rather than 16299.
The Fall Creators Update will be available for the following phones:
-
HP Elite x3
-
HP Elite x3 (Verizon)
-
HP Elite x3 (Telstra)
-
Wileyfox Pro
-
Microsoft Lumia 550
-
Microsoft Lumia 650
-
Microsoft Lumia 950/950 XL
-
Alcatel IDOL 4S
-
Alcatel IDOL 4S Pro
-
Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL
-
Softbank 503LV
-
VAIO Phone Biz
-
MouseComputer MADOSMA Q601
-
Trinity NuAns Neo
In other words, if your device was eligible for the Creators Update, you can get the Fall Creators Update, unless that phone is a Lumia 640 or 640 XL.
It's also likely that this will be the last feature update for Windows 10 Mobile. After this, it will just be cumulative updates for supported versions of the OS.
