Developer Hexworks and publisher CI Games will launch its Unreal Engine 5-based fantasy action-RPG reboot Lords of the Fallen on October 13 on the PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. However, with just a few hours before its launch, the developer has posted a message that may not make Xbox gamers very happy.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the developer stated:
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the content creators who have worked with us to enable the rapid deployment of patches, updates, and performance improvements ahead of tomorrow's exciting launch of Lords of the Fallen.
As such, PC and PlayStation 5 players will be able to enjoy the game as intended. The Xbox version is currently being updated, bringing it to parity with the other platforms, and the patch will release over the coming days.

This news is obviously not what people who bought the Xbox console version of Lords of the Fallen want to hear. The post offered no explanation for why the developers could not release a patch for the Xbox edition on the same day as the launch.
The game itself is both a reboot and a sequel to the 2014 game of the same name. Here is a quick summary:
Taking place more than a thousand years after the events of the first game, The Lords of the Fallen introduces an all-new adventure in a vast, interconnected world, more than five times larger than the original game. An expansive RPG experience – filled with NPC quests, compelling characters, and rich narrative – players will need to create their own hero before tackling the immersive single player campaign.
