These Huawei smartphones will get the Android 10 and EMUI 10 update

Huawei today officially announced the Android 10 update schedule for its devices. The company has been running an Android 10/EMUI 10 beta program for a number of its smartphones over the last few months. Now, it intends to start rolling out the stable Android 10 update for them over the coming months.

Starting this month, Huawei will start the Android 10 and EMUI 10 rollout for the following devices:

  • Huawei P30 Pro
  • Huawei P30
  • Huawei Mate 20 Pro
  • Huawei Mate 20
  • Huawei Mate 20X (4G)
  • Huawei nova 5T

In "later months," Huawei will start rolling out the update globally for its other devices including the P30 lite, nova 4e, P20, P20 Pro, Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, Mate 20 lite, Porsche Design Mate 10/RS, P smart 2019, P smart + 2019, P smart Pro, P Smart Z, nova 4, and nova Lite 3.

Depending on your region and whether you own the unlocked or carrier variant of any Huawei smartphone mentioned above, the rollout time might slightly vary for you.

The latest version of EMUI skin brings a new UI that's designed based on the layout of magazines. It also comes with a number of new features like Dark mode, a redesigned Camera app, new system animations, and more. There's also a useful Multi-screen collaboration feature in EMUI 10 that makes it a breeze to control your smartphone from your PC and transfer files to and fro between them.

Huawei has become a casualty of the ongoing trade war between the U.S. and China which has seen its Android license revoked. Due to this, the company cannot launch new smartphones with Google's Play suite of apps pre-installed. Thankfully, the EMUI 10/Android 10 update is not affected by the trade ban and all the devices getting the update will continue to have access to the Play Store.
