Kirby Star Allies is getting yet another free content update later this month, adding three more Dream Friends to the game, as well as whole new game mode. This is the third update headed for the game since its launch back in March, and it's coming on November 30.
The three Dream Friends introduced with this update are Magolor, the main antagonist in Kirby's Return to Dream Land (known as Kirby's Adventure Wii in some regions); Taranza, a major character in Kirby Triple Deluxe for the Nintendo 3DS; and Susie, who also debuted on the Nintendo 3DS, albeit in the Kirby: Planet Robobot title. As with other Dream Friends, these have a variety of abilities, some of which are based on existing ones, while others are entirely new. They also bring new twists and enemies to stages in the 'Guest Star ????' mode.
But that's not all that's new with this update, which also adds a whole new game mode called 'Heroes in Another Dimension'. This is unlocked after beating the game's story, and it offers a bigger challenge to players. Players navigate through a distorted dimension and can recruit Dream Friends to join their team as they progress through it. There are also new, harder bosses for this challenge, which look like more menacing versions of characters from the main story.
One of the issues we pointed out in our review of the game was the small number of Dream Friends that were available in the game, and updates like these are certainly welcome. As mentioned above, you can expect the third update to launch by the of this month, on November 30. If you haven't yet, you can get Kirby Star Allies from the Nintendo eShop.
