A new ZTE handset has rolled through TENNA, China's equivalent of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the United States, and to put it mildly, it looks ostentatious. The ZTE TL99 looks to be a luxury smartphone and could be called the TL99 Lamborghini Tauri Edition when it arrives to the market. While unknown at this point, it could end up being the successor to the $6,000 88 Tauri from a few years back.
The source states that the phone has three capacitive buttons on the front, along with a leather wrapped rear, where the fingerprint reader, camera and flash reside. While there isn't detail about the other materials used to construct this handset, there is speculation that the frame is gold plated steel.
If you have a closer look towards the bottom rear of the handset, you'll notice the famous bull logo that can be found on Lamborghini's many vehicles and is a symbol that was chosen by the car manufacturer's founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini. Below the iconic logo, there is an inscription that reads "Tonino Lamborghini", who is the son of Lamborghini.
As far as specifications go, the TL99 will offer:
- 5.5-inch QHD display
- An unnamed quad-core processor
- 4GB RAM
- 20MP rear camera with 8MP front-facing camera
- 64GB internal storage with microSD expansion
- 3,140mAh battery
- Android 7.1.1
- 154.1 x 77.6 x 9.3mm,
- 199 grams
For now, there are no launch details, but there is speculation that it will be announced in the coming weeks.
