Every summer, gamers wait for one special event: the Steam Summer Sale, when prices drop to the floor and you can get great discounts on hundreds of titles in the Steam catalogue. And this year, folks are getting a little advance notice thanks to a leak over on Reddit, which claims to show the Sale’s start date.
According to user MrFreemanBBQ, and to an image he posted, the Steam Summer Sale will get its start on the 23rd of June and run until July 4th. Now, normally this leak wouldn’t be a sure bet, but MrFreemanBBQ has a good track record, after leaking some of last year’s sales as well.
Last year’s Summer Sale saw countless titles being discounted by as much as 95%, as well as a community game where Steam users competed amongst themselves for the chance of extra discounts. Whether there’ll be a new social game this year for Steam buyers isn’t clear at the moment, but chances are good that it will happen.
Of course, this leak may still be inaccurate especially if Valve decides it wants to surprise users and ends up changing the dates. But despite that, the general timeframe for the Summer Sale always stays the same so consider this a good opportunity to start saving money if you’re planning on expanding your game collection this summer.
