The first week of August sees the game industry still taking a bit of a vacation but for true gamers there are still one or two new titles and DLC packs that might be of interest.
Limbo - This week's new game release is the PC version of Limbo, an acclaimed 2D platformer adventure game that was previously released on the Xbox 360 in 2010 and for the PS3 earlier this year. The Xbox 360 version of the game, developed by Playdead, has received a ton of critical acclaim and lots of "Game of the Year" awards. It's not hard to see why. The black-and-white game shows a boy searching for his sister and employs in-game physics for the game's various puzzles. The overall art design and mood make Limbo one of the most unique looking games ever released.
Also due out this week is Brink: Agents of Change, a DLC pack for the recent sci-fi first person shooter from developer Splash Damage and publisher Bethesda Softworks. The pack adds two new levels along with other in-game items and character clothes. The best part is that for the first two weeks the pack will be released for free; after that it will cost $9.99.
Xbox Live Arcade has a new game due out this week, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet, a side scroller game from developer Shadow Planet Productions. Finally, publisher Paradox Interactive and developer Nitro Games releases Pirates of Black Cove this week, a PC-based RTS-RPG set on the high seas.
