The number of phishing sites increased and beat a new record. Adware and spyware are increasing at an exponential rate. Web users are poorly informed about threats. They happily go out, purchase a copy of Norton or McAfee's latest security software and that's all there is to it. They believe they are safe, Norton/McAfee will protect them.
Phishing has increased by 20% from June to July of this year. Adware increased about 10 times in the course of less than 5 years. 3% of users can identify the difference between a "safe" site or one that can infect their computer, according to McAfee.
Will IE7's phishing filter and other security features be enough?
