Today ByteDance's video-based social media platform TikTok launched a new feature called 'Donation Stickers'. Powered by a fundraising company called Tiltify, these new stickers will enable video creators on TikTok to raise money for various causes. Users will be able to make donations without having to leave the application by tapping on a sticker.
The interactive new stickers can be embedded in both TikTok clips as well as live-streams. In order to encourage members of the community to contribute to those in need in these difficult times, the Chinese platform will match the donations made by users through the Donation Stickers for the next month, ending on May 27, 2020.
Michael Wasserman, CEO of Tiltify commented on its collaboration with TikTok:
“Tiltify was created to provide a simple but engaging way for charities and content creators to raise funds through popular social platforms. The partnership with TikTok is our first mobile-driven integration and will make it easier than ever for hundreds of millions of TikTok users around the globe to support their favorite charities and causes.”
Here is the list of charities which have partnered up with TikTok and can be funded via the new feature:
- CDC Foundation
- James Beard Foundation
- Meals on Wheels
- MusiCares
- National PTA
- National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF)
- No Kid Hungry
- The Actors Fund
The Donation Stickers are available on the video-sharing platform from today onwards. Step-by-step instructions to incorporate them in TikTok content can be found in the announcing post.
