Today is National Computing Day in the UK. Surprised? So are we. No, it's not an official initiative, but the brainchild of ComputerActive, the UK's best-selling computer mag.
Outside the ComputerActive's admittedly mass-market readership, National Computing Day is turning out to be a little bit of a damp squib - Originally it was meant to coincide with /promote a ComputerActive show in London, which didn't got off the ground. (Probably too close to Stuff LIVE 2002)
There are two themes to National Computing Day - getting online and recycling. ComputerActive has teamed up with UK Online (the government agency, not the Easynet subsidiary) for the former, and a clutch of local computer recyclers for the latter. If you are reading this, we guess you have no interest in the getting online initiative. But here is the National Computing Day website anyway.
