We've reported in the past on the Toolbox app for Windows 8, developed by Vectorform, that allows users to run a number of different custom apps at the same time, including a web browser, a weather app, Facebook and more. Today, the company announced a new paid addition to the Toolbox app that adds full Twitter support.
In a press release emailed to Neowin, Vectorform stated the Twitter tool for Toolbox is now available via an in-app purchase for $4.99. As you can see in the above screenshot, the Twitter tool takes up three of the six panes in the Toolbox app. Users can switch between several different modes in the panes, including timeline, connect, trend, profile, pictures, details, messages and search.
The new Toolbox premium tool is still subject to Twitter's API rules for third-party apps, which don't allow them to have more than 100,000 tokens. The press release quotes Kevin Foreman, director of product development for Vectorform, as saying:
Windows 8 users have been clamoring for a powerful and productive Twitter client that offers a better user experience and more capabilities than what has been available. We expect to reach the 100,000 token limit set by Twitter very quickly.
Vectorform plans to add even more free and premium tools for the Toolbox Windows 8 app later this summer, although details were not announced.
