Torrentz, one of the world's largest meta-search engines for torrents - and a favorite among those trying to download movies, TV shows, music, games and other content without paying - has shut down after thirteen years of operations.
Torrentz did not host any torrents of its own, but offered a meta-search facility, pulling in results from across numerous other popular torrent search sites, including the likes of Monova, IsoHunt and perhaps the most famous of them all, The Pirate Bay.
Today's shutdown came out of the blue, and without explanation. As TorrentFreak reports, Torrentz suddenly disabled its search function earlier today, and amended the description on its homepage to refer to itself in the past tense.
Users trying to log in to the site are no longer able to; instead, they're shown a message stating: "Torrentz will always love you. Farewell."
