Back in 2019, Turtle Rock Studios announced it was working on a new cooperative zombie shooter title named Back 4 Blood, and today during The Game Awards show, the game received a couple of new trailers. The new cinematic trailer can be seen above while the gameplay showcase can be seen below.
The game takes place following a zombie apocalypse caused by a parasitic worm, and the group tasked with reclaiming the world are the Cleaners, which players take the role of. The title will offer four-player cooperative play, with AI taking over any empty slots. PvP is here as well, with four versus four rounds available that pits humans and zombies against each other.
"Our fans have been waiting a long time for us to return to our roots, and it’s amazing to finally show the world what we’ve been working on," said Chris Ashton, co-founder and Design Director, Turtle Rock Studios. “We are making this game with our community in mind and are firing on all cylinders to give players a compelling zombie experience that is unlike any other.”
Left 4 Dead fans will probably see many similar elements between the two zombie games, which is understandable considering the developer made the original Left 4 Dead in partnership with Valve before going on to develop Evolve.
Back 4 Blood is slated to launch on June 22, 2021, across PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. A closed alpha for the game is beginning on December 17, with sign-ups available on the game's official website.
