Uber announces $25 off your ride to get vaccinated

Uber has announced that people in the United States can get up to $25 off per trip for up to four rides so that they can more easily get to a vaccination centre to get their COVID-19 jab. The announcement by Uber is similar to a deal it was running in the United Kingdom earlier this year.

According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s COVID Data Tracker, 61.3% of people in the U.S. have received at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine. By July 4, Independence Day, the Biden administration wants to see 70% of people in the country fully vaccinated.

To use the free rides, open the Uber app and tap ‘Vaccine’, press ‘Get your free ride’ and enter the zip code of your appointment’s location. Finally, select your provider location and your ride option. Uber will pay for drivers for these rides as normal but you won’t have to pay the fare, although riders are urged to pay a tip. The free rides can be taken between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. through to July 4.

If you plan to take advantage of the offer, ensure you get your first jab early so that you can get the discount on your second Uber when you go for the second shot three weeks after the first.
