Montreuil-based game maker Ubisoft has announced a new battle royale title for the current generation of consoles as well as PC. Duly christened Hyper Scape, the free-to-play FPS shooter game has a futuristic theme and is set in a fictitious city called Neo Arcadia. The city is further divided into districts with landmarks and buildings featuring explorable rooftops and more.
Aside from an official announcement trailer, Ubisoft has also posted two more videos so far - a dev diary and a clip offering a more detailed look at the upcoming FPS shooter title's gameplay, as seen below.
Hyper Scape features two main types of playing modes, a classic battle royale-style mode where players must fight each other to be the last unit standing and a second one where participants battle each other over a crown. In the latter setting, players must manage to hold on to the crown for a certain amount of time in order to win the match.
Ubisoft further detailed the game's mechanics and features in the following summary:
"Learn to avoid the Blight that progressively dissolves Neo Arcadia’s districts in varied patterns throughout each match. Maximize the Effects Cards played by the AI Game Master during the match, changing the game on the fly for all contenders. If you are skilled enough to make it to the final remaining players, you will enter the Showdown where you can choose your path to victory: will you eliminate all opposition or choose a more tactical approach and go for the Crown? Intense, surprising and spectacular, Hyper Scape brings Battle Royale to new heights."
Currently, the game is in a technical testing phase. While anyone is free to try to participate, the technical test is only available in certain North American and in European countries. Those interested in trying it out may try their luck by either registering on the website or by watching partner Twitch live streams to get access through 'Twitch Drops'.
Ubisoft's upcoming futuristic battle royale game is scheduled to release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Although it is slated for 2020, an exact release date is yet to be announced for the title. Those who are interested in learning more or receiving future updates about Hyper Scape may do so by frequenting the game's official website.
