The slow unveiling of Assassin's Creed Valhalla continues, as Ubisoft dropped a gameplay trailer today for its latest open-world RPG during Microsoft's Inside Xbox event. None of the footage is actually of the player controlling Eivor, the new protagonist, but showcases what the game will look like on next-generation consoles when it releases later this year. Catch the trailer above.
As snippets from the trailer showed, the Viking-themed title features sailing, a dual-wield combat system, throwable weaponry, customizable tattoos, and assaults on fortresses alongside other Vikings and siege weaponry. Even the iconic Stonehenge will be a location in the game players can visit.
Just like Odyssey, players will be able to choose a male or female protagonist for their playthrough. The game will be about Eivor's journey to find a new home for the Viking clan, which is where the aforementioned raiding probably in handy. A new combat system was confirmed for the title too.
Just like most of the games shown during the Inside Xbox presentation today, Assassin's Creed Valhalla will also be a Smart Delivery title, letting Xbox One owners get a free upgrade to the Xbox Series X version when it releases.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla is releasing on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Google Stadia this holiday season. The PC version will be skipping out on a Steam version much like other recent Ubisoft releases.
