After revealing Hyper Scape a mere week ago, Ubisoft took the time during today's Ubisoft Forward digital presentation to highlight various aspects of the futuristic battle royale game. You can check out the gameplay trailer above.
The most important takeaway from today's presentation was that the free-to-play title has now entered its open beta phase, an announcement which was coupled with a cinematic trailer diving into a bit more of the lore. In it, we see the city of Neo Arcadia, the sort of virtual reality stage in which "anyone can become someone" thanks to the Crown Rush battle royale mode.
Even though the title is set to release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One along with PC, it's not clear when the open beta will come to these other platforms. It seems to currently be available to try out via Uplay on PC, bringing new weapons, four new modes - Crown Rush Squad and Crown Rush Solo, as well as the time-limited Hack Runner Squad and Turbo Mode Squad to be added soon -, plus the all-important in-game shop where you are mercifully limited to buying cosmetic items (for now).
Given that Ubisoft Forward seems to be a series of events rather than a one off, it's possible the developer may announce the beginning of the open beta on console at a later date.
